Participants will learn to identify systemic barriers, apply equity-focused strategies, and develop practical skills through hands-on activities and collaboration. The goal is to equip doulas to strengthen their programs and expand their impact with equity at the center.

(1 CH), In this session, Debra Pascali-Bonaro and Ibu Robin Lim explore the significance of postpartum healing rituals across cultures, emphasizing their role in providing cultural safety and honoring diverse beliefs. Debra and Robin will emphasize the pivotal role of doulas in fostering cultural humility and ensuring the well-being of clients and their families.

(1.5 CH), A growing number of doula professionals do not have the lived experience of having their own children; this unique population of doulas often faces adversity due to societal assumptions and a higher risk of struggling with imposter syndrome. Whether you are a doula without children, a newer doula experiencing similar concerns, or a seasoned doula who mentors others, this session will provide validation, education, and empowerment.

The presentation will shed light on how to integrate, uplift, and replicate birth justice values and practices to improve equity in the care provided by Doulas.
