In this session, Everyone Wants to Hold the Baby, Who Will Hold Mother?® we will discuss the universal needs of all mothers and birthing people. The session will contribute to the understanding of why perinatal mental health is a public health imperative, and recognize the continuum of perinatal mood disorders and how they affect the perinatal family.

Jabina Coleman
LCSW, IBCLC
Jabina Coleman, also known as the Lactation Therapist, is a United States Breastfeeding Committee Cultural Change Maker awardee and a dynamic regional speaker. Jabina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
She supports new and expectant parents on their journey into parenthood providing psychotherapy and lactation consultation services through her private practice, Life House Lactation & Perinatal Services. She is the creator of Everyone wants to hold the baby, who will hold the mother? A call to action highlighting Black maternal health inequities focusing on awareness, access, accountability, and action.
Jabina holds a bachelor's in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice with over a decade of medical social work experience, community organizing, and leadership focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Jabina’s work is informed by her clinical and professional experiences as well as her personal motherhood journey to two children including four years of breastfeeding.
