Adiliah Smith
Adiliah F. Smith is a proud alumna of Alabama State University and the owner of Village Maternal Services where she serves as a maternal health consultant, certified doula and lactation specialist. She also works closely with the Alabama Prison Birth Project, Reaching Our Sisters Everywhere (R.O.S.E.) and Baptist Medical Center South. She is also the creator of the support group Mama’s Village MGM, a space centering the maternal experiences of Black women across Alabama’s river region and black belt, with over 500 women. Among her efforts she has organized Montgomery’s first ever “Community Mommy Shower” to connect mothers to resources and providers to improve maternal health outcomes as well as, the overall well being of women. Adiliah volunteers with the Woodcrest Improvement Association, YMCA and also serves as a member of the Gift of Life Foundation's Community Action Team . In the past she has served with the Breastfeeding Task Force at Baptist Medical Center South, the Governor’s Initiative Breastfeeding Work Group with the Alabama Department of Public Health and The Wellness Coalition’s REACH Advisory Committee and Policy Council for Montgomery Community Action. Adiliah has been honored as Alabama State University's "50 under 50" an accolade for alumni excelling in their careers and community. Adiliah has also been named by the Montgomery Advertiser amongst the list of "People to Watch" that are leading efforts for change in the community. When she isn’t working, she is enjoying time with family, at the library or out in the sunshine!
Catherine Crider
Catherine Crider was admitted to the California bar in 2015. In addition to being a lawyer, Catherine is an active labor and postpartum doula helping growing families. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Catherine worked with parents and children in a variety of roles as a licensed elementary and special educator.
Catherine also writes for websites on women’s health and parenting related topics. Materials she has produced can be found on Forbes.com, Healthline.com, and Education.com.
